Raha

A little story about myself. My name is Raha Jamalian-Hershey, and I am the Founder of MA-HA VIRTUE. My life has been a Marco- Polo Trip of its own. We moved from Iran when I was 3 years old, and did a pit-stop in Germany in order to move to the United States. However in the same week that we were going to move to the US, the Iran-Iraq war commenced and the US was backing up Sadam Hussein. All Visas for Iranians got cancelled to the US. The Jamalians pit stop in Germany turned into a temporary life. My parents did not speak German, I certainly didn’t and my 8 months old brother did not either. We started our lives and everything fell into place.

At the age of 18, I moved to London for University and did an international program where I stayed two and a half years in London, Paris, and Los Angeles. In between I did internships in Milan, Turino, Spain, and Germany. At the age of 24, I decided to move to California where part of my family lived. I met my husband Brad 6 months later, and we tied the knot on Catalina Island. My love for my family, friends, food, fashion, and always entertaining has never stopped throughout the years. Many tragic, magic, good and bad things happened throughout my journey in life and I decided to write a book which will be published in 2023.

NOW, the most incredible thing that happened to me was my beautiful little girl Aria who was born on September 15th 2016. My inspirations come mostly from her. My mother is very close to us, and has helped me tremendously in pursuing MA-HA VIRTUE. A heartfelt thanks goes to her, Aria and my husband.

I’m a mother, daughter, sister, friend and an Expat-wife who does love the opportunity life gives us. Exploring, learning and living in new countries and cultures is what makes me and my family who we are today. We as a family love to travel and show our son the world and the diversity we are living in.

Jody

Hi, Im Jody. I have not always been as comfortable in my own skin as I am today. It has taken a lot of hard work, and ending a lifetime of cycles that have brought me where I am. I love who I am. I grew up in a family of strong women and I didn’t realize my own strength. I had someone ask me that if I could go back and tell my 18 year old self just 3 words, what would they be… And the answer came right away. “ Believe in Yourself”. I would instill the confidence to be who I am now, to stand out of the crowd and to make a difference.

I have done a lot of crazy things in my life, however the craziest thing is being parents to so many kids ( we have 10 total) , and when We decided to become foster parents, then to adopt. But we felt that there were kids who have never known what love is really like, and we wanted to teach them to know the difference. We have since then adopted 3 of the children. And they are the light of my life!! I love to cook, and to have a delicious product that even my kids will benefit from. And this is it. I am so proud to be a part of the beginning of an Empire.

Tannaz

As an immigrant, one of the strongest methods to deal with homesickness for me is via food. Taste is a very strong sense that takes me back to the other side of the world where I called home. Raised by a single mother with the help of my grandma, I've been inspired by strong women growing up and one of my passions in life is empowering women.

Ma-ha is a wonderful combination of these two for me. A group of strong women working together to bring high quality drinks/snacks to people's homes. The drinks taste like home for me. The first time I tasted the sour cherry juice, I was immediately transported to my grandma's house when I was 4. I remember she'd pick the sour cherries herself, prep them, and get the juice. I never thought I'd experience that unique taste again until the day I met Raha and tasted the sour cherry juice. The quality blew me away! I am inspired by this group of women I work with and can't wait for the world to experience the quality taste that has brought joy to me.

Basma

I graduated college in 2011 and have since pursued a career in development and everything related, but almost 10 years later, I still feel that I can do more and that I haven’t discovered my true passion yet. I am now pursuing a Master’s degree in the digital technologies of healthcare and hoping to forge a new career path in that domain.

I’m married and have a 5 year old son, my family gives me the courage and determination to keep moving forward and challenge me to be the best version of myself.
